Dairy Doo is a designer, humified compost carefully crafted from dairy manure by Morgan Composting to provide a balance of organic matter and microbiological life to your soil. Carefully managed in a controlled breakdown process of approximately 60 days, Dairy Doo heats high enough to kill all weed seeds, but not so high that it limits the mad growth of biological life. Worked into your soil, Dairy Doo is just about the best thing you can do for your soil.
What is Dairy Doo?
about dairy doo
Think of Dairy Doo as a micro-farm, thriving with microbiological life (like nematodes, fungi, and healthy bacteria that break down nutrients) and full of organic matter that grabs hold of nutrients and feeds your plants. By spreading Dairy Doo on your soil, you stimulate the activity of the same type of life already lying dormant in your soil, or you restart the life eradicated by the uses of chemicals fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides.
Dairy Doo is also the primary ingredient of a variety of our compost mixes and custom blends, each designed for precise effects in farms, orchards, vineyards, greenhouses, lawns, and gardens.
How does Dairy Doo work?
Your use of Dairy Doo depends on your desired outcomes. But generally speaking, by mixing Dairy Doo into existing soil, you jumpstart the biological activity already present at some level in your soil. As a rule of thumb, cast shovel-fulls across your lawn, or spread a quarter-inch of Dairy Doo on your garden and till it in. For more detailed instructions, visit our Usage Tips & Tricks Page.
To learn how Dairy Doo will work best for your specific soil, we recommend you start with a soil test. (Soil tests are available through Michigan State University Extension offices or through Bio-Systems of Marlette at (989) 635-2864.) Then, bring the results to us at Morgan Composting (you can also email them or fax them to us at (231) 734-6259. We’d love to build your perfect blend, custom matched to your soil and specific needs!
How Do I Use Dairy Doo?
Dairy Doo originates at the rear ends of a ten thousand cows. But it becomes Dairy Doo through the efforts and innovation of Morgan Composting. Morgan Composting is the venture of father/son/grandson manure entrepreneurs Dale, Brad, Jeremy, Justin, and Jacob Morgan.
Dairy Doo was created first of all as a way for these one-time dairy farmers to save money by not having to ship their extra manure away. But since 1996, Dairy Doo has really taken off, filling an important niche market: organic farmers and gardeners who don’t want to give up high yields simply because they’ve shelved the chemical fertilizers.
Where does Dairy Doo come from?
Morgan Composting Inc takes the time to thoroughly inspect DairyDoo everyday. DairyDoo heats up to temperatures of over 140 degrees, ensuring that all weed seeds and negative pathogens are burnt in the process of composting. Most yard waste, and other organic compost is simply thrown in a pile, waiting for a day when it can be hauled out to a better place, and used. Home owners have recognized the benefits of good quality compost, have tried to make medium carbon compost. This is a great opportunity, learning experience, and always encouraged here at Morgan Composting. FOr those folks that don’t have time to monitor their compost daily to be certain the pile has not gone anaerobic, and pathogens are not setting in, we offer a solution. That solution is DairyDoo.
But when compost is correctly managed, maintained, and crafted, it can be just about the best product you can put in your soil. In effect, a good compost is nothing but clean, vibrant, rich, nutritious soil created off-site and imported into your garden or field.
Compost is living soil. And Dairy Doo is designer compost.
